Overall the fact that Disney altered so much of the original story has no detriment to the enjoyment of the film and in a lot of ways makes it an overall  better watching experience. Of course, other well known roman epics, like 300 and Cleopatra may be more historically accurate but are far less fun or considered films a person would watch multiple times. Scenes of people getting cut in half in battle, and ritual sacrifice are parts of ancient life that Disney was smart to leave out. Most films that depict the ancient world are to some extent dramatized to make them more entertaining. Disney’s Hercules is the perfect introduction to the ancient world and is suitable for any audience.
